Amber Valley artist Sally Lemsford created a contemporary art festival aboard a double-decker bus that toured village halls.
This year’s Flaming Skirt Festival travelled to Ironville Church Hall, Riddings Park Community Centre, Denby Institute and Waingroves Community Centre on Sunday, April 27.
At each stopping point, there was a different piece by commissioned artists from Yorkshire, the East Midlands and London – which included games, ventriloquism, puppets, sculpture, prop-making and performance.
Sally said: “Art doesn’t have to be serious, in a gallery or in big cities; it can be on the move and shared by extended families in their own villages.
“This festival is contributing to the great national debate about the value of culture.”
