Heage Windmill’s popular annual arts challenge returns on Sunday June 9.
Organisers describe the event as an opportunity for artists of all ages and ability to display there skill, or maybe lack of it!
The challenge, organised by the Friends of the Mill, is to produce a picture which includes “our wonderful six-sailed windmill of course, on site, in just hours!”
Trustee Alan Gifford said: “The work can be produced in any media and size, although if on paper it should be mounted on a board.”
Registration will take place between 10am and 10.45am at the visitor centre and the competition starts at 10.45am. The event is sponsored by Phillip Wilde, of Albert Wilde Coaches, Heage. There will be prizes in both adult and junior, under 16, categories. Judging and the subsequent award of prizes will take place at 3pm.
The windmill will be open during 2013 from 11am to 4pm every weekend from April to the end of October, as well as at all bank holidays. Admission prices for 2013 are adult - £3.50, concessionary including Gold card - £3, children (5-15) - £1.50, family ticket – £8.50 (to include up to three children). For organised parties of up to 10 people - £40; school parties £25 for up to 42 people.
