Police are appealing for information after five shop windows were smashed up in Chesterfield town centre.

The windows and doors were smashed to four shops at Market Place between 5pm on December 17 and 9am on December 18, and one shop on Cavendish Street overnight on December 11.

Shops affected on Market Place are Wallace Arnold on Knifesmithgate, the Full Monty Hair Salon, Market Place Fish and Chips and Peacocks Coffee Bar - as well as Age Concern on Cavendish Street.

PCSO Adele Chapman-Jones, of the Chesterfield Town Centre Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This damage is very distressing for the local shop owners, who are upset that their businesses have been targeted. It also creates a really poor impression of our town centre.

“I would urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious around these times, or if they know anything about the incidents, to contact us.”

Anyone who can help with the appeal, which was only released today, should contact Derbyshire police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
