Police are urging residents to be alert after pieces of wood with nails sticking out were found on a popular caravan path in South Normanton.

A resident came across a number of pieces of wood with nails and screws sticking out for it along Sporton Lane, otherwise known as ‘Caravan Hill’.

This has sparked concerns with the South Normanton and Pinxton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team,

PCSO Lucy Naughton said: “There are concerns that a person, or an animal such as a dog or a horse, could have been hurt if they hadn’t noticed them in the mud along the track.

“We don’t know at this stage if the pieces of wood, which have now been removed, were placed there deliberately or not but I would urge residents just to be more aware and to contact police if they have any information or notice anything suspicious in the area.”

Anyone with information about the incident, which took place on Wednesday, April 6, should call police on 101.

Alternatively, you can pass on information anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
