Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl was assaulted in an alleyway in Alfreton.
The 17 year old was walking between The Green and Nottingham Road in the town at 5.15pm on Monday when she was confronted by a youth.

The man grabbed her shoulders and her handbag fell to the floor. The woman was shaken but not seriously injured.

Detective Inspector Mark Argyle said: "This was a nasty assault and fortunately the woman was not seriously injured. I would appeal to anyone who has any information about this crime to come forward and speak to the police."

The offender is described as a white boy aged about 15 of slim build with slightly protruding teeth. He was wearing a top with stripes on the arms.

Police are appealing to any possible witnesses to call 0845 123 33 33 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
