A Heanor woman took an overdose to end her life, an inquest has heard.
Christine Dougall, 46, of Meadow Gardens, had taken a mixture of prescription drugs, including Codeine and Temazepam, on August 29 last year.

Speaking at Derby and South Derbyshire Coroner's Court, her husband, Thomas, said that when he returned h
ome from work at 2.50am, Mrs Dougall was awake and she told him she had drunk some wine.

The following day he was woken by his daughter Amy.

They left his wife in bed while they went to McDonald's.

When they returned an hour later at 12.45pm, Mr Dougall called up to his wife but got no response, at which point he went upstairs and realised she was unresponsive.

Mr Dougall said his wife's death came totally out of the blue, but that she may have been worried about financial difficulties.

"I don't know if she intended to take her life. I think it was a cry for help more than anything else."

Christine, Dougall who had a history of anxiety and depression, and would drink a bottle of wine every night, had left a note on the kitchen table.

When police searched the house they found a number of tablet boxes with tablets missing.

Recording a verdict of suicide Coroner Louise Pinder said: "It was her intention to take her own life. "
