TEENAGERS in the Alfreton area have been offered a sporting challenge for the summer by their local police community support officers.
The Long Way Home project is a three-day, 150-mile bike ride through Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and requires youngsters to train for the next ten weeks in the run up.

PCSO Mark Rogers, of the Somercotes and Swanwick Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "It's a fantastic way to mix with local teenagers, offering them a huge challenge with a fantastic sense of achievement at the end."

Alfie Smith, Amber Valley Borough Council's community sports development officer, said: "I feel that the young people will gain a lot of experience during the challenge; such as team building, personal development and how to motivate and encourage others."

The Long Way Home project is still open to other 12 to 18 year olds, for more information call 01159 628216.
