An independent review of England's water quality has put Ripley and Heanor water company Severn Trent among the top performers.
The Drinking Water Inspectorate's annual report is based on a series of rigorous tests carried out at customers' homes and aims to ensure that each company's tap water is safe to drink.

It also tests taste and appearance.

David Wickens is Severn Trent's quality and environment manager.

He said: "We believe that our water provides excellent value for money, and customers can have confidence that it is safe to drink."

Mr Wickens continued: "A litre of fresh tap water costs a fraction of the price you'd pay for branded bottled water and offers important health benefits for people of all ages."
