JUGGLERs joined stilt walkers and plate spinners for circus fun at Ambergate Carnival at the weekend.
The annual event, which took over the field at the side of the Hurt Arms pub on Saturday, July 10, brought almost the entire village out to enjoy the fun.

Visitors to the event enjoyed displays by the Dan Collins Suitcase Circus, and got the chance to try out tricks including the diabolo and juggling, with the help and tuition of The Joker.

Well over a thousand people turned out for the event to enjoy the glorious sunshine and unusual activities on offer.

Away from the big top-style events there were also lots of stalls, sideshows, food stalls and activities such as a bouncy castle and electrical go-karts on offer, plus entertainment by the Ripley Morris Men and the Long Eaton Militaries.

The carnival was the culmination of a week of activities in the village, which had included a dog show, a fun run, and a quiz at The Hurt Arms.

The carnival week is intended to bring the whole village together and get everyone involved in the community, which it seems to achieve every year.

On carnival day the procession set off in the early afternoon, and all sorts of weird and wonderful characters trooped towards the carnival ground. The colourful, circus-themed procession arriving then kicked off the rest of the fun throughout the day.

In the evening visitors stayed around to listen to Beatles tribute band The Beatroot Beatles, and cover band The S.U.B.S.
