Pentrich Rock, Blues and Custom Show is cancelled
THE 25th anniversary Pentrich Rock, Blues and Custom Show has been cancelled after a bid for a music and alcohol license was turned down by Amber Valley Borough Council.
The license was refused after objections from Derbyshire police based on fears for public safety at the event, which is traditionally a meeting point for motorbike fans.
At a licensing panel hearing on Thursday, July 10, councillors heard police had received intelligence anticipating violence at the four-day festival. They feared a revenge attack could take place for the death of biker Gerard Tobin last August. Mr Tobin was shot on the M40 in Warwickshire.
At the meeting organisers One Percent Entertainment argued the event had gone ahead without incident for the past 24 years with the help of the police and they believed this year would be no different.
The point was also raised that if a revenge attack was to take place there had been ample opportunity at previous biking events.
One Percent Entertainment issued a statement on it's website saying: "It is with regret that after so much hard work, time and commitment which has been put into this year's event by the RBCS 25 team that we announce the 25th anniversary show will no longer be taking place as advertised."
