Work on two motorway bridges in Pinxton is set to start next week.
The M1 is being widened from junction 28 at Alfreton right down to junction 25 at Sandiacre in an effort to reduce congestion.

Work has been ongoing to widen the bridge over the B6019 Kirkby Lane which has been completely closed. From Monday Augus
t 18, Kirkby Lane will re-open with traffic lights in place for up to six weeks to allow the widening work to be completed.

Work to widen the bridge over Brookhill Lane will begin on Monday August 11, and a full closure of Brookhill Lane will be in place from Monday August 18.

Highways Agency project leader Paul Tully, said: "We are delighted that we are nearing the completion of the Kirkby Road bridge and are able to open the road again, all be it with two-way traffic signals for a period of time.

"Reaching this stage now allows us to move forward and begin construction work on the Brookhill Lane bridge. We apologise for any disruption this will cause, but we will do all we can to limit any delays during the scheme."

Traffic will be diverted along the B6019 Town Street onto Alfreton Road then Pinxton Lane and Mansfield Road before crossing over the M1 at junction 28 onto the A38 Mansfield Road/Alfreton Road and Pinxton Lane before rejoining Brookhill Lane.

Overnight lane closures will be in operation on the motorway between junctions 28 and 27 while the work is carried out.
