A KILBURN man who menaced and harassed local residents has been banned from pubs and licensed premises in his village until 2011.
Leaflets featuring the face of 40-year-old David Jones of Alfred Road, have been distributed to 250 Kilburn homes following the issuing of an anti-social behaviour order (ASBO).
Details of the ASBO are being publicised by Amber Valley Community Safety Partnership to ensure that Jones does not breach his conditions. If he does he risks arrest and a custodial sentence.
Amber Valley Community Safety Partnership said the ASBO has been issued because Jones has been menacing, threatening and abusive to other nearby residents on
several occasions while being in a drunken state.
Clare Waterfall, anti-social behaviour co-ordinator with Amber Valley Community Safety Partnership, said: "The publicity is not intended to punish the individual concerned.
"An ASBO is a civil order designed to prevent future anti-social behaviour and for this to work we need local people to report breaches.
"By working together the partnership members and residents of the borough
can successfully stop unacceptable behaviour."
The conditions of Jones' ASBO, which are in place until February 17, 2011, say that he must not:
Shout, spit, use verbal abuse or swear towards any person in a public place.
Consume or be in possession of alcohol in a public place.
Enter any on/off licensed premises in the Kilburn area as indicated on a map in the leaflet.
Be under the influence of alcohol in a public place.
Act or encourage others to act in an anti-social manner that causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
Cause noise nuisance at such a level of volume as to cause nuisance or annoyance to any person residing, visiting, or otherwise engaged in lawful activity in the vicinity of Alfred Road, Kilburn.
The leaflet tells members of the public that if they see Jones breaking the terms and conditions of his order, they should report him. The leaflet reassures callers that all
information given is in confidence.
Amber Valley Housing is helping to distribute the leaflets in Kilburn. Housing Manager Suzanne Shead said: "Amber
Valley Housing will not accept anti-social behaviour. Any of our tenants involved in it can expect to face action."
The case of David Jones is the second that the Amber Valley Community Safety Partnership has decided to publicise by
producing a leaflet.
The first was produced in February to raise awareness of an order issued to an Alfreton teenager.
Anyone who witnesses David Jones breaching the terms and
conditions of his ASBO is asked to call
Derbyshire police on 0845 123 3333.
