Horsley Woodhouse carnival
GOOD weather graced the Horsley Woodhouse Carnival this weekend, letting everything fall into place for a successful day.
The 32nd annual carnival, on Saturday, July 19, was opened by Janet Birkin, chairwoman of Derbyshire Police Authority before a procession, including fancy dress, began through the village.
The wheelbarrow and passenger race was a success as always, with around 30 people taking part.
The day also acted as a venue for the Carnival Band competition supported by the Carnival Band Secretaires League. Five bands competed and the overall winner was Derby Midshipman.
Organiser Eric Lancashire said: "Everything went so smoothly, there were no delays all day. There was a tremendous atmosphere and everything just clicked together. It was a marvellous day."
