A HEADTEACHER who has devoted 35 years of her life to pupils at Lons Infant School has retired in a whirlwind of balloons and goodbyes.
Linda Williams, 59, took on the role of headteacher at the Ripley school, on Tavistock Avenue, in 1992 but has been an important part of the school since joining as a reception class teacher in 1975.
She has been at the school so long that she has taught two generations of some families.
At the start of next year, Linda will travel to Kenya for an adventure holiday.
Staff and students marked the retirement by presenting her with gifts, including an opal ring and a retirement book with messages and photos.
