THE Ripley and Heanor News can today exclusively reveal the line up for the eighth annual Ripley Music Festival scheduled to take place in the town between July 11 and 19.
Organisers of the festival, going ahead with £3,000 worth of sponsorship from Lockwood's, released the advanced list to the paper this week.
Saturday, July 11From 2pm various artists will play a free all day launch party at The
George Inn. Lick Squid, Firing Blanks, Creep Show, Andy and Phil, TT Shakers, Psycho Tendencies, kate and kelly Marsden, The Dirty Riffs, Hearing Colour, Front Line and Population Lost have all been confirmed for 45 minute sets starting at 2pm.
Sunday, July 12From 5.30pm Metropolis will play a rock and blues set at the Nags Head.
Monday, July 13Music for a summer's evening will be performed by Alfreton Ladies Choir at Ripley All Saints Church from 7.30pm. Entry costs between £3 and £5.
At 8pm Jamsons Nook, Mark Lilley, Rodina Over The Sun and Blackheart are playing a Rock Showcase at PJ's Sports Bar on Booth Street - entry costs £3.
Tuesday, July 14From 8pm Indie Showcase with Teller, Nine Hundred More, The Telephones and Burdock is happening at PJ's Sports Bar with tickets priced £3.
Wednesday, July 15The nationally acclaimed Arioso Duo piano and violin duo will be playing all your favourite classics at All Saints Church from 7.30pm. Tickets are between £3 and £5.
Four young local bands are booked to showcase their talents at the 'Turn it Up' event at PJ's Sports Bar on Booth Street from 8pm.
Meanwhile at 8pm at The Nags Head Irish duo The Blarney Boys are playing a free gig.
Thursday, July 16Simply Strings with the British Bassoon Corporation will perform musical favourites at All Saints Church from 7.30pm.
Friday, July 17The big Friday night of the festival sees Musical Dimension with an evening of light entertainment at All Saints Church in Ripley, entry is £3 to £5, while various artists are booked for the Kestrel Inn and a live lounge jam night - performers are welcome to book a slot on arrival.
Saturday, July 18From 11am on Saturday shoppers on Oxford Street will be treated to popular covers from The Tomkatz from 11am.
The final Saturday night of the festival sees a brass spectacular at Crossley Park from 7.30pm with Newstead Brass, swing band AK and the fantastic firework finale all planned. Bring a picnic.There will be a slide and bouncy castle for children.
Sunday, July 19The final day of the festival gets underway on the Market Place at 12.30pm.
The Conspirators, The Find, The Kevin Critchley Outfit, The Rushing, Tin Soldier and Rhesus will perform on the main stage with a licensed bar, hot and cold food, slide and Oxfam stall thrown into the bargain.
In the evening at 7pm Please Y'self will perform at The Nags Head.
