Fire ripped through a house on Outram Court in Ripley during the early hours of Friday morning.
Fire and rescue services were called to the blaze at just after 5am but were unable to prevent substantial damage being caused to the property.

Luckily nobody was hurt in the blaze which police believe may have been caused by an electrical appliance and they are not treating the fire as suspicious.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Police said: "We believe an electric fire was left on during the night. The house has been gutted."

Fire fighters from Ripley and Alfreton stations attended the incident and were on scene until 6.20am.

A spokesman for Derbyshire fire and rescue service said: "The call initially came through at 4.59am as a report of a house fire with people involved. Everybody was safely accounted for by 5.18am and the fire was out by 5.30am."
