The countdown is underway for the first Marehay Show in 30 years.
Saturday, September 6, will see events take place at Marehay Chapel, the Recreation Ground and The Kestrel in a bid to bring the community together and revive the once annual event.
The traditional village show was started in 1958 but abruptly sto
pped 20 years later, the last show taking place on Sunday, August 20, 1978.
In March this year, a group of villagers formed the Marehay Community Trust, with the intention of bringing the show back to the village.
Committee member Janette Salt said: "We felt that it would be a good thing to help pull the local community together.
"There aren't many events of that nature taking place in this day and age so we thought it would be nice to revive it from that point of view and to raise money for charity.
"It's a case of trying to get as much support as possible this year so we can keep it going."
The committee aimed to bring traditional show events back to the village, including fruit and vegetable growing competitions, a dog show, a children's fancy dress contest, and a tug-of-war tournament.
Janette said she thought it would be well received after attracting a lot of support from local businesses and local residents.
She said: "We're trying to encourage people to get involved with the produce competitions.
"I think people are a little bit out of the habit of doing it now, growing isn't something people need to do as much as there aren't the shows.
"But from talking to people, we've found out there are still growers out there.
"It's not just about that though, there are a lot of events going on."
The show ground, at Marehay Recreation Ground, will be opened at 12noon on Saturday, September 6, by a special surprise guest.
Money raised by the show and weekend's events will go towards Breast Cancer Care and Marehay Chapel, which will host a flower festival over the weekend.
