CHIEF Constable Mick Creedon is to hold a meeting specially for residents of Codnor and Denby to hear their views on the forthcoming British National Party Red, White and Blue Festival.
The national festival is being held on Codnor Denby Lane during the weekend of August 14, 15 and 16 and police are expecting a large number of people to either attend the event or protest against it.

Officers are also consulting with the festival organisers and groups who have indicated that they will be taking part in a protest against it.

The meeting, at John Flamsteed School, Denby, will only be open to residents of the villages who will be most affected by any disruption and not members of the general public.

The meeting will start at 6.30pm on Tuesday, August 4, and anybody wishing to attend should contact police on 0345 123 33 33 to register.

As a legal Political Party the BNP have the right to hold their weekend wherever they wish so long as they abide by the law and whatever other rules concerning the event. Why would anyone want to protest at a family weekend?

And as residents of codnor denby lane I think we have the right to have our views heard concerning an event that causes major disruption every year! The BNP cannot just do as they please without accepting other peoples views!

Well if you lived in Derbyshire then you would know the disruption it causes! Im quite sure that In Cumbria, none of this affects you! The police are giving us the opportunity to voice our opinions, which is only fair and is freedom of speech which I believe the BNP seem to love!

I quite agree, the BNP adore freedom of speech, and you have that right. But is it the disruption that you will be voicing your opinion on, or the fact that it involves the BNP?

Well, firstly, I attend Exeter university (top ten) so I think you need to read properly what I put. Secondly, your comment doesnt make sense in places. I do not support the labour government. Thirdly, it should be broken up for the university holidays and finally I find it rude that you tell me to get a job, the whole idea of university is so I can get a better job rather than live off benefits as so many do these days! I really dont feel I can reply properly to a post that has such poor spelling and grammar. If you are going to put forward an argument please learn to write properly. And yes the disruption is caused by the protestors, which like I have said before is because the festival is taking place, and naturally the BNP attract protestors.

I have deliberatelty not joined this debate as I have been accused of coming to the rescue of Exeter Student,maybe because we have similar views. But Redvulture I do think you need to get some facts right. The student is from Exeter not Essex, I dont see anyone on their 'podium' at all, I have never read any 'rants' either. As for the insulting way you sneeringly say 'get a job' , are you insinuating all students ae not hard workers and if so how will we ever have any structure in society without qualified people who worked hard to gain the required qualofications. We do agree on one thing Redvulture, this Government has made a complete mess of things and the lack of jobs should be laid firmly at their door.

Now, back to the subject being debated, what is wrong with local people airing their views on an event which is close to their homes and is affecting them in some way or another? The event will go ahead but it is important for us all to have our say surely?
Why does it allways come back to the same old thing, it's the BNP you are complaining about , not the event.
And as for Cos245 from Cumbria, How many times do we need to say it, over and over and over again, it is not the BNP that we the locals are against it is the venue for such a large event. Just because we are not BNP supporters does not mean we can't protest against the location. Any sizable event in this location is unacceptable to many people in the area.

The event has only been at Denby twice Big.B, so how many times have you actually said it over and over?

Interesting comment from a Denby resident last year though;

'...Get your facts right Becky Williams.Denby is a large area and it is a tiny minority of residents who can't stand 3 days of celebration.As a resident of Denby we welcome the BNP as they are saying what the rest of us are thinking.You and the Labour Party have been left with egg on your faces,as YOU brought violence and thuggery to our village.The BNP are welcome,left wing lunatics that you represent ARE NOT.Stay away from Denby next year and do your research before you make sweeping and inaccurate statements about the people of Denby...'
