A FUNDRAISING night held in Crich has helped to raise over £8,000 for the Leukemia ward at the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham.
The evening, at the Glebe Community Centre, was arranged by Carol Isaac whose son Conor, aged ten, was diagnosed with the illness in July 2005.
Since then he has regularly attended the E38 day care ward at the hospital as part of a three-year treatment
programme.
Carol, who runs the Que Clothing shop on Church Street in Ripley, said: "I'd like to thank everybody that gave money, prizes, items to be auctioned and helped in any way. We had over 100 companies donating things for the evening which was a tremendous response."
The Crich Tramway Museum, where Carol's sister-in-law Alison Isaac works, lead the way with donations of food and other items for the event.
A full size, moving dalek from Dr Who even made an appearance to
surprise Conor who is a massive fan of the show.
The money raised will go towards a new computer system, furniture, toys and a Playstation for the ward.
Carol Isaac said: "We had to specifically request it went to that ward so they can get the things they've asked for and need."
For anybody wishing to make a donation please contact Carol at Que Clothing for more information, their number is: 01773 742 459.
