POLICE have targeted underage drinkers in Ripley, confiscating large amounts of alcohol.
Officers from Ripley's Safer Neighbourhood team took part in Operation Archway, which ran from Friday, February 29, to Sunday, March 16.

During the crackdown, officers confiscated 21 cans of Stella Artois, 17 cans of Carlsberg, one bottle of WKD alcopop, one bottle of Jack Daniels, six litres of soft drink mixed with vodka and 11 cans of lager.

The operation focused on reducing nuisance behaviour related to alcohol. It concentrated on the Ripley Greenway footpath area and the Elms Estate, but patrols also toured other areas of the town.

Officers also breathalysed several teenagers and took home individuals found to be under the influence of alcohol.

PCSO Jodie Booker, a member of the Ripley Safer Neighbourhood team, said: "This operation targeted young people found to be drinking and causing a nuisance; behaviour which can be intimidating and worrying for local residents."
