A teenage cancer victim's dream is to come true thanks to The News and a Derby biker.
Katie Taylor, who has cancer in her leg, hip, shoulder, spine, head and lungs, dearly wants to ride on a Harley Davidson motorbike.
The 15-year-old's parents, Wayne and Alison, of Albert Street, Leabrooks, approached The News asking for help to find someone willing to take her on a ride.
When we told Bob Stake, a member of the Strong Survive Derbyshire Motorbike Club, about Katie's plight he was delighted to be able to help.
Bob, who owns a Harley Davidson FXR customised bike, said he could even arrange for other bikers to be there at the same time.
"I'd be happy to help. I will probably take a day off work and we might even be able to wing it to get some other bikers along as well," he said.
Katie's dad, explaining his daughter's dream, said: "A few years ago when she was six or seven we were refuelling the car at Swanwick and saw a large group of bikers all on choppers.
"She was amazed and one of them took her on the back of a chopper on the petrol station forecourt. Ever since then she has wanted her own Harley."
The cancer was discovered two years ago when Wayne and Alison took Katie to the doctors with a raised mole on her left calf. It turned out to be a malignant melanoma which was removed.
In October they took her back to Nottingham City Hospital after discovering a lump elsewhere on her body and a CT scan revealed that the disease had spread into her bones.
Katie, a former pupil at Anthony Gell School, in Wirksworth, is now in a wheelchair, unable to walk far and in constant pain.
Her dad said: "We're at sixes and sevens. We want to give her all we can and give her as much quality of life as we can. If she wants something then we'll do our hardest to do it, within reason."
