Events at Heanor Market Towns Week

Heanor's annual market towns week begins on Sunday May 6. Here is a rundown on what is taking place.
Sunday May 6
Dawn chorus
A guided walk through red river local nature reserve. you will need to wear suitable footwear and don't forget to bring binoculars. To book a place call 01773 535232.

Flower festival
A wonderful display of flowers at S
t John's Church, Upper Dunstead Road, Langley Mill from May 4 to 7. Theme is the old testament. Free event.10am-6pm.

Duck Race
Buy a duck for £1 and watch it race along the Erewash canal.Prizes arwarded to winners. There will be two heats at 1pm and 2pm with the final at 3pm.
Venue: Langley Mill Basin, Station Road, Langley Mill, 12-4pm.

MONDAY MAY 7
Flower festival
Your last chance to see this year's display of flowers at St John's Church, Upper Dunstead road, Langley Mill with the theme of The Old Testament. 10a,-6pm.

Victorian Market
Heanor and Loscoe Town Council invites you to its annual May Day Victorian event at Heanor market place.
The day will include maypole dancing and ladies morris dancing. There will also be swing boats, barrel organ, a childrens entertainer and a hot pig roast supplied by Greedypig.
11am-3.30pm.

Teddies leap of faith
A chance to let your teddy leap from the top of St Lawrence's Church Tower. Bring along your teddy, with its name and your name on a tag.
11am-2pm.

Giving the future a past - launch of the schools heritage project
See the launch of a new project about the heritage of Heanor and surrounding area. This project is aimed at year 6 pupils and will show the history of the area they live in. 12-4pm at the at the Arts and Heritage Centre, Wilmot Street, Heanor.

TUESDAY MAY 8
Art Exhibition - Go See
Aldercar Community Language College presents an exhibition of art work produced by year 11 pupils.
The work is designed and created using the theme of the local environment and community. To be held at Heanor Town Hall, 9am -3pm.

Walk Through The Mill
Take a guided gentle stroll around Langley Mill looking at some of the historical points of interest as featured in the book and dvd of the same name. During the walk there will be a refreshemnt break at St Andrew's church. Call 01773 535232 to book.
Meet at the Bridge Centre, 43 Cromford road, Langley Mill at 6.30pm.

WEDNESDAY MAY 9
Art Exhibition -Go See.
All work produced and devleoped by talented students from Aldercar Community Language College. A local theme runs throughout their work, ranging from mining to Codnor Castle. 9am-3pm at Heanor Town Hall.

Picnic In The Pub
A short guided walk in the countryside surrounding MApperley village, finishing at The Black Horse Pub, Mapperley, where you will be treated to a warm welcome and a picnic. As places are limited, please call either 0115 9320702 or 07939 829290 to book your place.
6pm-8pm.
