This snap from February 1986 shows a group of Ironville youngsters on the start line of a slightly more unusual race.
The Ironville pancake flipping races provided plenty of fun for people of all ages, as you will see from the snapto your left.
Even a group of local bobbies got in on the sprint races, which saw competitors balance the traditional Shrove Tuesday treat in a frying pan along a 100 yard dash for the finish line.
One tot on the right here seems to have been given a nudge over the start line. Perhaps you were on this picture and remember the pancake race days well? If so get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
