Spring food festival will be a first for campus

LOCAL food producers will be showing off their wares at the first Spring Food Festival to be organised by the Derby College Food Hub at Broomfield Hall, Morley, at the weekend.

The event will be staged on Saturday, March 31, between 10am and 4pm.

The Food Hub, which was established in October 2010, supported by £299,000 from the Big Lottery’s Local Food scheme, champions local produce at its café and farm shop at the Morley campus, which is open seven days a week. It has invited a range of producers to exhibit and sell their goods at the fair.

Family activities on the day will include information about growing plants, flowers and vegetables at home and tours of the Animal Centre at Broomfield Hall which has a wide range of farm, small animals and exotic species that are cared for by students at the College.

College Director of Enterprise and Innovation Louise Curd said: “The Spring Food Festival is the first of a series of seasonal events planned at the Food Hub.”
