Nostalgia in a box will be the theme at Strutts Vintage Fair on Saturday, February 23.

It will be held at Belper’s Strutts Community Centre on Derby Road. If you’re fond of the new look or the new wave or into mini-skirts or World War II memorabilia a day out at a vintage fair is for you.
Notty Hornblower, of Hope House Costume Museum fame, will bring her vintage costumes, textiles and memorabilia for the trip to Strutts.

Notty, a former pupil at Strutts School, said: “I’m looking forward to coming home as I was born at Babbington Hospital in Belper, lived in Gibfield Lane and went to school at Strutts too.”

Other stalls range from glassware, handbags and shoes, vintage greeting cards, vintage linen, lace and haberdashery.

There will be bacon butties on hand to sustain you and refreshments throughout the day in Strutts hall bedecked with home-made bunting. Jeremy Field will ratchet up the atmosphere with World War II music and songs and maybe even some newsreel as well.

Joan Hardy, former pupil herself and chairperson of the Strutts Society Events Committee, said:“Our Vintage Fair is a great day out and will help raise funds to put in a lift for this Grade II listed Community Centre building so that people can access the glories of the first floor.”

An unmissable day out I hear you say? Not half!

Doors open 10am, entrance is £1 (accompanied children get in free). There will befree, on-site parking and disabled access.
