Free fireworks fun on way at annual event
Codnor Parish Council Best Kept Competition
The annual free fireworks spectacular, which attractions hundreds of people, will take place in Codnor again this year.
The event, in its 19th year, is put on by Codnor Parish Council.
It will take place on Friday, November 2, on the Alfreton Road Recreation Ground.
During the event Alfreton Road, the road in front of the Poet and Castle pub will be closed to traffic from midday on the day with vehicles being re-routed around the Clock Tower, said a parish council spokeswoman.
The event will start at 6pm pm and includes Bert Holland’s children’s Fairground Attractions.
A best Guy Fawkes competition will be judged at 7pm followed by the lighting of the bonfire at 7.30pm. Spyrotechnics will once again be providing the professional fireworks set to music display, which is due to start at 8pm.
Barbecue food will be supplied by Codnor Scouts and hot peas will be courtesy of the Rotary Club of Amber Valley.
Hot and cold drinks will also be available in the Methodist Church on Mill Lane.
This event is sponsored by Codnor Parish Council and assisted by Amber Valley Borough Council and the Rotary Club of Amber Valley.
