Annie play set for next April
Producers of a forthcoming musical say they have been ‘overwhelmed’ with the talent after a weekend audition.
Nearly 50 aspiring young actresses auditioned for roles in Annie on September 9 –which Ripley and Alfreton Musical Theatre Company is to stage in April 2013.
After more than two hours of singing, dancing and acting – and several renditions of ‘It’s The Hard Knock Life,’ 24 were selected to make up two teams of orphans, with the role of Annie being played in rotation by 10-year-olds Olivia Priestly, from Greasley, and Emily Weston from Alfreton .
Assistant secretary for the company Jane Oates said: “Annie has become one of the best-loved family musicals of all time. The show boasts one of Broadway’s most memorable scores. There’s fantastically visual choreography, a side-splittingly funny script and, of course, the adorable dog Sandy.”
The company is seeking new adult members. If anyone is interested contact: secretary@ramtc.org.
