Roar of approval for Morpurgo tale

A NEW stage adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s The Butterfly Lion, produced and presented by New Perspectives Theatre

Company, the Curve in Leicester and Derby Theatre, is receiving rave reviews ahead of its visit to Derby, from May 23-June 8.

The production is gaining huge roars of approval from the press and audiences (young and old alike) during its

current run at Curve.

This beautiful Michael Morpurgo classic, about a boy who adopts an orphan lion cub, has been brought vividly to life for the stage by a first-class cast, including Derbyshire’s own Gwen Taylor, and the beautiful and ingenious use of puppetry (and some super cute puppets).

The Stage describes the production as “a first-class production that could grace any stage in the country” and “…translates exquisitely to the stage” with BBC Radio Leicester adding: “wonderful storytelling which is true to the novel…I was blown away”.

For theatregoers, Michael Morpurgo fans and book lovers alike, this stage production of The Butterfly Lion is sure to touch the hearts of, and charm, people of all ages.

It can be seen at Derby Theatre from May 23-June 8.

Tickets are available, a cost of £8-£24 for adults (£8-£22 for concessions) by calling the box office on 01332 593939.
