He’s back! The legendary Kenneth Alan Taylor returns to the stage as Nurse Nelly Noggins in Nottingham Playhouse’s pantomime later this year.

Kenneth Alan Taylor has now written and directed 29 pantomimes for Nottingham Playhouse, making him one of the most prolific living pantomime playwrights in England.

On returning to the stage, Kenneth said: “I know I said I would hang up the dress after appearing as Widow Twankey in 2008’s Aladdin, but whilst writing this wonderful new version of Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood, I confess the urge to don some frocks, high heels, make-up and a pair of heart shaped specs came right back to me.

“My youngest grandchildren are also now the perfect age to experience pantomime and I am thrilled to be able to take to the stage again so they can see their Granddad in all his dame glory!”

Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood tells the story of the evil Sheriff of Nottingham, played by Playhouse favourite John Elkington, who has hatched a cunning plan to ‘dispose’ of his niece and nephew so that he can inherit their fortune. But out to thwart his plans is everyone’s favourite outlaw, Robin Hood, who aims to win the heart of the beautiful Maid Marian in the process.

Stephanie Sirr, chief executive of Nottingham Playhouse and Giles Croft, artistic director, are delighted that Kenneth is returning to the stage this year:

“Panto is all about surprises and we were delighted with the surprise Kenneth sprung on us last year when he said he wanted to come back and perform. Through the pantomime, Kenneth has entertained tens of thousands of people over the years and has helped cement our reputation for family friendly pantomime at its best.”

Robin Hood And The Babes In The Wood is on at Nottingham Playhouse from November 30 to January 19.

Tickets are £19-£26.50. Call the box office for more details on 0115 941 9419.
