WE haven had lots of people get in touch with us about pictures featured in last week’s Memory Lane.

Alexis Smith was our swimming champion. Alexis now a mum of two aged 43, living in Newthorpe, and working at Amber Composites in Langley Mill, was aged about 10 or 11 when she won the Heanor gala event. Winning then inspired her to compete for Derbyshire and Amber Valley, she said.

Cllr Charles Cutting and Julia Ludlam contacted us about the opencast mining protest picture. They told is the protest was in Erewash and not connected with the Kirk opencast site in Denby. Julia, from Kimberley, was chairman, of the Kirk protest group and was on the picture. She said Kirk would link up with other protest groups in the area. This picture was of Shilo mining protesters.

Chef David Gregory, from Swanwick Hayes, contacted us. He was aged 17 or 18 in the picture there and says Maggie Jenkinson was also on the picture.

Thanks to everyone who go in touch.
