WE have been delving into our own archives again this week and have dug out another picture featuring the late Nottingham Forest and Derby County legend Brian Clough.
The charismatic Clough loved nothing better than going out to meet the people and was a regular at functions like this one.
We have no idea where this one was taken, only that it was in the Ripley and Heanor area, but would love to find out more.
It looks like ‘Old Big ‘Ead’, as Clough was known, was presenting a canteen of cutlery to someone in May 1985. Were you at the event? If so we would love to hear from you, particularly on what it was like meeting Cloughie himself.
If you were there or know anything about the event then get in touch with us on 01773 514162 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Clough led Derby and Forest to honours. Derby won their first ever old Division One Championship title under Clough in 1972. He went one better with Forest, for as well as Division 1 honours, he went on to lead them to two European Cups.
He lived locally with his wife in Quarndon, near Duffield, and his son and former Forest and England star Nigel is now manager at Derby County.
Brian Clough died in 2004, aged 69.
