Madam,

Monday, June 30 1948-2008.
Born -'England' 1932
Today we celebrate 60 years of the health service.
In those days you knew how and when you were born, what was your nationality but not anymore.

After years of campaigning, picketing Matlock, Derbyshire County Council offices, meeting our MP Judy Mallaber, writing to London – health ministry, I am told in no uncertain way, I can only be British and not English (my birthright).

If born in Wales, I'm Welsh, if born in Scotland I'm Scottish, if born in Ireland, I'm Irish.

I'm British and I'm stuck with it and (EEC).

There's an election coming up and the English will arise and show you how proud we are to be English.

Having approached patients in both Derby Royal Infirmary and City hospitals, there is an army out there, an English-army ready for a leader, having no faith in Judy and no longer in a Labour administration.

For 60 years I voted Labour, a councillor on Town and Amber Valley, not any more 'my' !!! Labour is dead.

Long live the old Labour which we in Heage still believe in.

God Bless Aneurin Bevan, the Minister of Health who was the founder of the Health Service.

Keith S Staley
