Financial problems can bring difficulties to relationships, to life in general and can, in extreme circumstances, lead to suicide.
It is believed that over 54,000 houses will be repossessed this year because of the credit crunch.
About ten year
s ago, a new national charity was launched called Christians Against Poverty.
The aim of the charity is to get people out of debt through good debt counselling and very sensible financial management.
Last year, over 4,000 families were brought out of debt by the charity concerned.
All debt advice given by this charity is absolutely free.
The charity has now started a National Free Debt Advice Line which anyone anywhere can access and obtain sensible advice on the subject of debt.
I am sure there are many people living in the distribution area of your newspaper that would like to know about this telephone number - 01274 760780.
There are now 72 branches of this charity nationally - there may well
be a branch near you.
You can find this out by looking at the charity's website www.capuk.org.
The charity has won awards for the work it does, in 2003 it was voted charity of the year and just recently it was voted the best small company to work for Sunday Times readers in 2008.
What Christians against Poverty does which some other debt agencies do not do is try to teach the person in debt how to handle and budget because unless they change the way they do things financially they could very easily be back in debt 12 months after the initial debt was cleared.
I myself was very heavily in debt, but I was lucky to be put in touch with someone in CAP who basically saved and changed my life.
I do not work for the charity, I just believe in the work they do.
