Madam,

I am writing with reference to this week's story 'Council apologises over closure of Sherwood Hall'.
Can I ask why should my council tax be used to compensate users of Sherwood Hall when it has been proved by the Ombudsman that the councillors failed failed to carry out the duties correctly?

Surely they should be liable for compensation not tax payers.
