Madam,

In response to the loss of the Rock 'n' Blues festival at Pentrich, Alfreton's Party in the Park committee hurriedly put together a massive line up of local bands to fill the gap.
Called Party on the Hill it was held at the George Inn on Lowes Hill in Ripley on Saturday July 26.

Throughout the whole day, 14 different bands and solo artists gave their time up voluntarily to entertain the huge crowds attending.

The short
notice in which the Rock 'n' Blues was called off meant that a lot of people from around the country came anyway!

The committee put together a package of quality local bands such as The Dirty Riffs, Katy Marsden, Crossroads and Population Lost to name but a few.

In all the event managed to raise £200 towards helping to fund this year's event 'Party in the Park'.

This was the first such event we have held outside Alfreton in the six years we have been running and the day was a great success, we would like to thank all the artists who came along and Andrew Chadwick who did all the sound engineering, and all the wonderful people that attended.

Hopefully we will be doing a lot more of these activities both in Alfreton and the surrounding areas.

In addition to raising funds for Party in the Park, Katy Bamford was at the event and raised £100 running the tombola stall on the day. The money she raised will go to her school, Street Lane Primary, which recently had its garden vandalised.
