Madam,

Your paper's headline, in the June 12 edition of the Ripley and Heanor News, should have read: "BNP still hope to stage festival, despite protest", since the use of the word "vow" might suggest something of a defiant tone, indeed, as though we are doing something wrong, by holding the festival in the Heanor area, in the first place.
As I said before, I don't mind people protesting about our party, but I do object to intimidation, and now official obfuscation from Captain Flint of the Derbyshire Constabulary, about the threat to the safety of the Red White and Blue festival from violent left wing loonies, since we will never be able to do anything, democratically, if we are denied even our basic freedoms of association, under the protection of the law of this country, regarding the above.

If the police have powers and intelligence to prevent rival football hooligans from clashing, then surely they must also have the strength to be able to allow the BNP Red White and Blue Festival to again take place and pass off as peacefully this year, as indeed it did, when it was held here last year?

Hear, hear Mr Snell.
The only point I'd raise is in the use of the term 'left wing loonies'
Using the word 'loony' suggests they are a bit of a joke, when the reality is that they are viscious, nasty thugs.
Much of the 'intelligence' the police have against these people is widely available on the internet. I have been directed to various sites where threats have been made against the BNP, and - particularly nasty - the children attending the festival.
As for local Labour councillors being 'offended' when the term 'communist paid agitators' was used to describe them, one only has to look at certain anti-bnp sites and find the list of groups that fund them - Marxist led Trade Unions - aka Labour Party paymasters.
