Madam,

I am totally amazed at the comments made about the BNP Festival at Denby by both Judy Mallaber MP and Cllr Lancashire.
They attempt to come across as 'protectors' of the residents on Codnor Denby Lane, but my past dealings with the pair of them exhibit differing attitudes.

At the 'poor' end of Denby (Denby Bottles and the houses next to the B6179], residents had a
dreadful experience two to three years ago with the metal skate ramps that were installed at the now defunct skatepark.

Noise problems were horrific and levels of anti-social behaviour, totally unacceptable.

Life was hell every day and often through the night. We contacted both of them. Neither offered residents any support.

The skatepark was eventually removed as we went through legal channels and it was designated as a statutory noise nuisance.

More recently, we voiced our concerns to both of them about how the proposed Cinderhill development would impact on highways around our area and highlighted the fact that carcinogenic waste was going to be built on.

Again, they refused to respond to our pleas for help.

Thus, we formed a community group and enlisted the help of Friends of the Earth solicitors to get the planning permission quashed, as this is what the majority of residents in our part of Denby and Kilburn wanted.
Our community pledged thousands of pounds and we have subsequently become a wealthy limited company ready for the next 'fight'.

Only two residents from the 'other' end of Denby pledged money, as they realised the negative impact that this development would have on the local environment.

One of these residents was Alan Warner.

My argument is that both Ms Mallaber and Cllr Lancashire abandoned us when we begged for help on two occasions.

Is it because we live in the 'poorer' part of Denby or are their comments part of a political stunt set up by the Labour Party to ruin a festival that only lasted three days anyway.

Either way, they have both proved that they have double standards with residents in Denby.

I hope all who attended enjoyed the festival despite the despicable behaviour of the left wing 'thugs'.

And more power to you Mr Warner for sticking up to them.
As for Ms Mallaber and Cllr Lancashire, I suggest that you begin to treat all residents fairly and with a similar degree of consistency to those who live on Codnor Denby Lane!

Mallaber should come clean about her involvement with the Anti BNP protest.
1. Was she aware of the connection between the protest organisers and the group calling themselves 'antifa'? The protest organisers had (and still do) have a direct link from their website to the antifa website, where they openly threaten violence against the police and the BNP. As recently as yesterday they have posted threats against Alan Warner.
2. Given her former membership of the Communist Party was she aware that people on the march were going to be flying the hammer and sickle flag? Was she proud to march under the Communist banner?
3. Will she come clean and admit that rather than standing up for local people, the purpose behind the protest, including the violence, was to cause as much inconvenience and mayhem as possible so that more locals will object to future RWB Festivals, in pursuit of a quiet life?
