Walk on the wild side
WALKERS looking for a picturesque summer ramble are being invited to don their boots and head to Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire.
The National Trust hall near Derby is surrounded by a 820-acre park and is a haven for wildlife. It also boasts archaeological remains.
Now in the last of a series of summer evening walks, visitors will have the chance to explore medieval ditches and field systems, which pre-date the establishment of the park, and remains from the Second World War when Kedleston was requisitioned by the War Department.
The National Trust's Head Warden, Simon Hiley, said "Kedleston's archaeological remains are not very well known but there are important clues in the landscape about how the park has developed over time. This walk is ideal for those who enjoy a good walk and are also interested in discovering some of Kedleston's hidden history."
The walk will take place on Wednesday, July 9, at 7pm. Tickets cost £7 per person and must be booked in advance on 01332 842191.
