Antiques under holiday spotlight

Two events are planned for the Denby Visitor Centre during the May Bank Holiday weekend.
And an all-day May Day musical festival will be held at Alfreton on Monday.

At Denby Saturday is Valuation and Collectors Day from 10am to 4pm.

Bring along your old Denby Pottery for valuation by experts Graham and Alva Key, or bring any other
antique items for valuation by James Lewis of Bamfords Auctioneers of Derby.

A donation of £1 per item valued will be donated to charities the Born Free Foundation and Dimbleby Cancer Care.

There will also be an outdoor antiques and bric-a-brac sale, plus special offers in the Factory Shop.

On Sunday it is the Denby Wedding Fayre from 11am to 4pm, with free entry. Over 30 quality local wedding businesses will be exhibiting in a large marquee.

There will be a free prize draw to win over £200 worth of Denbyware, plus special displays and offers in the Factory Shop.

The Denby Visitor Centre is open daily and is on the B6179, just off the A38 north of Derby.

Alfreton's Party in the Park are holding an all day May day music festival at Alfreton Town Supporters Club, North Street on Monday.
Twelve acts will be appearing throughout the day which will begin at 12pm.

Appearing live will be The Dirty Riffs, GTI, The Educatables, David Weightman, Kate Marsden, Hearing Colour, Abasination, Mushroom, Five Chambered Hearts, Firing Banks, The Fuse and Electric Hazard. Admission is £3 for adults and £2 for under 18s.

Money raised will go towards funding this year's Party in the Park event which will take place on Sunday September 7 on Alfreton Park.
