Ripley is bracing itself to play host to more than 2,000 music fans when the Indietracks festival rolls into the Midland Railway at Butterley later this month.
Over 60 bands have been booked to perform at the two-day event, including headliners Los Campesinos! and The Wedding Present.
Organisers expect to draw about 1,000 visitors on each of the days.
The festival was established last year after orga
niser Stuart Mackay noticed the site's potential as a music venue.
He said: "I used to work at the railway restoring the trains there. I started going to indie/pop gigs and discos in different parts of the country, and then, one night when I was helping out on one of the railway's evening trains which had a bar and disco on-board, I saw the potential for doing something there."
Around 300 dedicated indie/pop fans went along last year.
Stuart said it had been arranged at the last minute and he had not had time to promote it properly.
He estimates there will be a lot more this year, with some people staying at the Golden Valley Caravan Site.
Midland Railway spokesman Alan Calladine said he was not worried about the amount of people attending.
He said: "The museum site lends itself quite well to this type of event.
"It's very different to what we normally do here and, when we were first approached about it, we thought 'what are we letting ourselves in for', but last year was very successful and all the festival-goers were extremely well-behaved.
"It will also bring business to the railways so I think the festival does nothing but good."
It takes place on the same weekend as the Pentrich Rock and Blues festival, July 26 and 27.
Stuart Mackay added: "It's unfortunate both festivals are at the same time but the music is very different so we're targeting different audiences."
Tickets cost either £25 a day or £45.
