Transport minister hitches lift

Secretary of State for Transport and Derbyshire Dales MP, Patrick McLoughlin visited Crich Tramway Village and caught a ride on a tram during a visit of the region last week.

Mr McLoughlin was shown around the Heritage Lottery funded George Stephenson Discovery and Learning Centre and the Museum’s Library and Archives.

Mr McLoughlin said: “I have been incredibly impressed by the hard work and dedication of the staff and volunteers who make this such a valuable tourist attraction and education centre, both for Derbyshire and the country as a whole.

“I am sure that their dedication to preserving our proud transport heritage will see the museum continue to go from strength to strength.”
