A LANGLEY MILL tattoo shop owner is looking forward to seeing his new premises literally buzzing with customers in the New Year.

Nick Brinsley 41, and wife Lisa, 40 who co-own the Evil-Eye Tattoos on Station Road, have moved their parlour from its previous upstairs premises to a bigger ground floor shop.

Former forklift truck driver Nick says the move has now taken the couple’s business from a ‘studio’ to a ‘parlour’ now and are hoping the move can attract more passing trade.

The shop has been in Langley Mill for six years, but Nick says he has been involved in the art for 26 years now. He used to draw designs for people to then take to a tattooist. But a decade ago after what he calls a ‘kick up the backside’ from wife Lisa, Nick began to learn the trade himself and he can not thank the people that taught him enough.

“You definitely need a bit of a passion for it,” Nick said. “It’s more a way of life than a hobby.”

Some of the stranger designs Nick has had to produce are a ‘Mr Whippy’ ice cream and a 1950s Electrolux vacuum cleaner. But the tattooist admits: “We’ll do anything really – within reason.”
