Ripley bake-off hailed a success

A baking competition hosted by Disability Derbyshire Coalition saw top cake makers awarded with prizes.

The Park Road, Ripley, based charity ran the bake-off to raise funds and had leader of Derbyshire County Council Cllr Andrew Lewer, judge winning cakes and pastries from 50 entrants.

Publicity co-ordinator Hannah Stirland said the event, hosted at its headquarters last Monday, has helped raise awareness of the charity and the work it does. She said: “We wanted to let the community know about our counselling, computer training and taxi service, plus all the advice we can give. Lots of people came forward on the day to book counselling sessions .”
