Options for housing growth revealed
Sighs of relief and cries of anger were heard as Amber Valley Borough Council announced its long term vision for housing growth.
The long awaited 80 page document drawn up by a number of neighbouring authorities sets out where 9,000 new homes will be built in the borough by 2028 and was published on Wednesday.
Large areas of land in Ripley, Heanor, Alfreton, Codnor and the controversial Cinderhill land north of Denby have been given the green light for development in the coming years.
The announcement follows a lengthy consultation period, started in 2008, in which 17 potential sites have now been reduced to just seven.
Now the he authority wants members of the public interested in attending its full council Meeting on Wednesday 26 September to contact it if they want to be there in person.
A report about the recommended locations for housing growth will be discussed, as well as other issues, and is likely to attract a lot of local interest, the council says.

Assistant Chief Executive John Grady said: “ With limited seats available to the public for an expected high turnout for some of the issues being discussed, it’s important to manage numbers attending to make sure that everyone who wants to attend gets a fair chance to do so.”
