New recruits

The latest recruits in Derbyshire County Council’s drive to recruit 700 apprenticeships are settling into their placements.

The county council is creating the positions over four years – 500 within the authority and 200 in private industry.

The latest wave of 41apprentices have now taken up their positions with the county council, with positions including teaching assistant, civil engineer, countryside warden and care worker.

Councillor Kevin Parkinson, Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “Combined with the 200 grants we’ve approved to support Derbyshire businesses to take on apprentices, this is a great start to our long-term project to create a total of 700 positions.”
