Strutts memories provoke a wave of nostalgia

editorial image

A pupil stands poised to leap into the pool at the former Herbert Strutt School on Derby Road here. The pool was gifted to the community by the Strutts in 1910 and was adjacent to the main building on Gibfield Lane. This picture taken sometime during the 1960s is from the Strutts Community Centre archives.Volunteers at the centre are putting together a collection of bygone pictures taken at the school, along with a collection of other memorabilia. Donations are welcome.
