Ladybirds fly home with charity cash
Staff at a Heanor salon raised an amazing £623 in aid of Cancer Research UK by dressing up as ladybirds.
Katie Melnyk, owner and manager of KLM Hair, on the High Street, held a charity day on October 19.
Katie said: “To celebrate our first anniversary I wanted to have a memorable day, raising money for a worthy cause.
“We all wore fancy dress costumes, wine and buffet was provided for customers and passers-by, we had a raffle where all prizes were kindly donated by staff, customers, family and friends.”
Stylists Chantelle Parker, Gemma Mansfield and Cally Wyle donned wings alongside Katie, who added: “I donated my day’s takings and generous donations were also received from Chantelle and Gemma. Cally baked and sold cakes, all profits were donated.
“Donations were also received from our customers leading up to and on the day. Thanks to everyone for all the generous donations.”
