Kids’ charity mile success

Sporty youngsters have managed to raise hundreds of pounds for charities both in this country and abroad.

Children at Wirksworth Junior School, in Wash Green, joined countless others across the country in getting active in a bid to raise cash for Sport Relief.

The pupils walked, hopped, skipped and wheeled their way four times around the Anthony Gell School playing field in order to complete the Sport Relief mile.

Big hearted family and friends sponsored the children, managing to raise an impressive £660 from the day.

The school’s head teacher, Lesley Grover, congratulated the children for their marvellous fund-raising efforts, as well as those who sponsored them for their generosity.

She said: “It was great to see the children participating so enthusiastically, and as ever, family support for the event has been amazing.”
