AN ILKESTON opticians is set to help a charitable organisation raise cash for local good causes throughout the rest of the year.

Ilkeston and District Round Table vice-chairman Mark Vardy presented manager of Specsavers Kaye Howells with a recognition plaque for adopting his organisation as its chosen charity for 2012.

During the Round Table’s Christmas float campaign, the Bath Street store joined forces with the group to raise £200 for local charitable causes by selling cakes and holding raffles.

There will now be regular joint fundraising and family activities at Specsavers throughout 2012 culminating in the return of Father Christmas in December.
