CREWS at Ilkeston station will be swapping fighting fires for car washing on Saturday at a charity event.

From 9.30am to 4pm free car washes are on offer at Ilkeston Fire Station, on Derby Road but crews are hoping people will make a donation to the Firefighters’ Charity in return for their efforts.

The annual event raises cash for the charity which supports members of the fire service and their families.

Halfords from the Waterside Retail Park have donated shampoo, sponges and leathers for the event.
